Backgrounding Fase – 7 to 20 months of age
After weaning of our calves they go into our intermediate backgrounding stage. For the next 12 months our goal is to grow them out in the most natuaral and healthy way possible. We monitor their growth rate weekly and keep them growing at a slow but consistant rate over this period. After 12 months they are then ready to be moved into the final finishing stage. This is when we select the animals for our Free Range label before they go onto the final finishing stage.
